Neumann/Smith renovated the escalators and their enclosures at the north and east sides of the Beverly Center in Los Angeles.  The escalators connect Beverly Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard with five levels of parking and three levels of retail tenant space.

 

Twenty existing escalators and their exterior glass and steel enclosures were replaced.  One new glass enclosure consists of ten escalators on Beverly Boulevard; the second consists of ten escalators on La Cienega Boulevard. 

 

The work includes the removal and replacement of existing floor and wall ceramic tiles, light fixtures, interior wall finishes, signage, decorative railings, sliding doors and a security gate between the escalator and parking structure.  Partial demolition of existing walls on the fifth level of both enclosures expanded the space connecting the new enclosure with the parking structure and with the mall.
