Michigan Tech's new  residential apartment building offers a new type of campus housing. The hybrid building combines the social benefits of dormitory style housing with the option of an independent apartment lifestyle, containing private bedrooms with semi-private bathrooms, and shared great rooms including kitchens. The building also includes a wide variety of common areas to enhance the live-learn experience. The location reinforces a central residential node for housing on campus, enhancing student life and the development of a wide diversity of on-campus housing options.

The new residence hall fits into Michigan Tech’s modern architectural style, but also evokes an “up north” aesthetic with forms, details, materials and finishes that are not typically used in student housing including sloped metal roofs, stone walls, wood timber columns and beams, exposed wood decking and a combination of natural gas and wood burning fireplaces. The common areas look and feel like a northern lodge.
