CORPORATE CONTROLLER

We are seeking a Controller to manage all accounting and finance functions, as well as assist with human resources and office administration. This position will report directly to the Executive Team, leading accounting and finance operations as well as the human resources and payroll operations. Experience working in an architectural firm is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Operations: As the Corporate Controller, you’ll oversee and coordinate all financial operations across the firm. This includes managing accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), project tracking, and more.
  • Strategic Financial Management: You’ll direct treasury, audit, tax, real estate, and insurance activities. Additionally, you’ll develop budgets and provide recommendations to maximize cost efficiencies.
  • Reporting: Creating and maintaining ongoing reports, including monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, Balance Sheets, and other internal financial reporting.
  • Compensation and Benefits: Tracking employee compensation and benefits packages, staying informed about industry trends, and ensuring the company’s compensation program remains competitive.
  • Cash Flow Management: Investigating and reporting on variance findings related to cash flow to the Executive Team.
  • Accounting Records: Maintaining accurate accounting records according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) using company accounting and project management software.
  • Human Resources and Payroll: Managing HR and payroll operations, including benefits administration, employee relations, and new hire onboarding.
  • Contractor and Vendor Management: Reviewing contractor and vendor hours and invoices.
  • Banking Relationships: Maintaining relationships with banking institutions.
  • Financial Close: Managing monthly, quarterly, and year-end close of books, including W-2s and taxes.
  • Business Advisory: Providing advice to Principals on ongoing business transactions.

Qualifications:

  • CPA Preferred: Having a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is advantageous.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance or accounting.
  • Experience: You should have at least 10 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Personal Attributes: Confidence, engagement, proactivity, and collaboration are essential.
  • Organizational Skills: Being highly organized and detail-oriented with multitasking abilities.
  • Excel Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Software Experience: Familiarity with Ajera or other project management software.
  • Industry Background: Experience in the architectural industry or a related field is preferred.

PROJECT MANAGER

We are seeking a Project Manager to serve as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets, and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Based in our Southfield studio you will coordinate all project efforts, ensuring effective execution.

Who you are:

  • Project Manager with 10 or more years of experience
  • A team player who communicates effectively with sound judgment, thoroughness and appropriate decision making
  • Effective communicator who speaks confidently and articulates well
  • Focused individual who works well under deadline pressure
  • Experienced in commercial interiors, multi-family, higher education, or retail

 

What you’ll do:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Coordinate all project efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution
  • Assists with project specifications by providing relevant and required product, equipment information and compiling and analyzing data.
  • Actively manage internal budgets, schedules, and programs; project communications and documentation; office administrative tasks; and project team assignments.
  • Represents the firm with targeted clients, consultants, contractors and with the public.
  • Prepare strategic plans for successful projects
  • Write and review completed reports, plans, and calculations

Your Education + Skills:

  • Professional degree in architecture from an accredited program
  • Licensure preferred
  • Experience in Revit developing models and technical details
  • Strong understanding of building science, codes, and ADA requirements.
  • Knowledge of construction types, techniques, and Construction Administration.
  • Accuracy, completeness, clarity, and composition in graphic/visual and written expression.

PROJECT ARCHITECT

We are currently seeking a Project Architect to join our team in the Southfield studio. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills as well as an understanding of building codes and ADA requirements. You will support projects in the development of concepts, which are incorporated into a final product in conjunction with the work of other architects and technicians.

Who you are:

  • Project Architect with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • A team player with the ability to develop, coordinate, and review construction documentation for complex design solutions

What you will do:

  • Develop technical construction documents in Revit and CAD,
  • Coordinate with consultants as necessary
  • Responsible for specific technical aspects of an assigned large complex projects or technical specialty, including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of solutions that best meets the client’s needs
  • Provide professional architectural consultation in the planning and coordination of large complex projects
  • Assist with project specifications by providing relevant and required product, equipment information and compiling and analyzing data
  • Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and systems
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures
  • May provide technical guidance to less experienced architects/architectural staff
  • Writes and reviews completed reports, plans, and calculations
  • Contribute to our culture of equality, creativity, and innovation; think outside the box

Your Education + Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of architectural experience
  • 5 years minimum experience in Revit developing models and technical details
  • Previous commercial, higher education, retail, wood construction, etc. experience
  • Advanced REVIT skillset

SPECIFICATIONS WRITER

We are currently seeking a Specifications Writer to join our team in the Southfield studio. The ideal candidate is familiar with a wide range of building types, materials, and construction systems. You will provide a supporting role in production of Project Manuals, coordination of Consultant Specifications, and research of materials and products.

 

Who you are:

  • Specifications Writer with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Resourceful and creative thinker with strong writing, editing, and research skills
  • Multi-tasker with proven track record of success working with a multitude of teams and clients
  • Individual with a strong understanding of building science, materials, construction systems and codes

 

What you will do:

  • Work alongside Director of Specifications and/or Senior Specifications Writer, provide a supporting role in production of Project Manuals, coordination of Consultant Specifications, research of materials and products
  • Typically involved in multiple projects with varying schedules
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with many diverse stakeholders
  • Contribute to our culture of equality, creativity, and innovation; think outside the box

Your Education + Skills

  • Experience in preparation of technical documents with at least 2 years dedicated to preparation of specifications.
  • CCS certification and LEED AP preferred
  • Experience with BSD SpecLink preferred
  • Understanding of building science, materials, construction systems and codes
  • Strong editing and research skills
  • Accuracy, completeness, clarity, and composition in written expression
