CORPORATE CONTROLLER

We are seeking a Controller to manage all accounting and finance functions, as well as assist with human resources and office administration. This position will report directly to the Executive Team, leading accounting and finance operations as well as the human resources and payroll operations. Experience working in an architectural firm is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Operations: As the Corporate Controller, you’ll oversee and coordinate all financial operations across the firm. This includes managing accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), project tracking, and more.
- Strategic Financial Management: You’ll direct treasury, audit, tax, real estate, and insurance activities. Additionally, you’ll develop budgets and provide recommendations to maximize cost efficiencies.
- Reporting: Creating and maintaining ongoing reports, including monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, Balance Sheets, and other internal financial reporting.
- Compensation and Benefits: Tracking employee compensation and benefits packages, staying informed about industry trends, and ensuring the company’s compensation program remains competitive.
- Cash Flow Management: Investigating and reporting on variance findings related to cash flow to the Executive Team.
- Accounting Records: Maintaining accurate accounting records according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) using company accounting and project management software.
- Human Resources and Payroll: Managing HR and payroll operations, including benefits administration, employee relations, and new hire onboarding.
- Contractor and Vendor Management: Reviewing contractor and vendor hours and invoices.
- Banking Relationships: Maintaining relationships with banking institutions.
- Financial Close: Managing monthly, quarterly, and year-end close of books, including W-2s and taxes.
- Business Advisory: Providing advice to Principals on ongoing business transactions.
Qualifications:
- CPA Preferred: Having a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification is advantageous.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in finance or accounting.
- Experience: You should have at least 10 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Personal Attributes: Confidence, engagement, proactivity, and collaboration are essential.
- Organizational Skills: Being highly organized and detail-oriented with multitasking abilities.
- Excel Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Software Experience: Familiarity with Ajera or other project management software.
- Industry Background: Experience in the architectural industry or a related field is preferred.
