Transforming former a warehouse into an upscale workplace environment comes with unique challenges, but through smart design and space planning initiatives that maximize efficiency, Neumann/Smith created an innovative and engaging design. Working within Art Van’s established design standards and in an effort to avoid an unsightly sea of cubicles, collaboration areas and work spaces fill the center of the space while conference rooms and privates offices line the perimeter.
In addition, an inviting reception and lobby area, conference rooms with glass storefront systems and hinged sliding doors, hoteling stations that offer a change of scenery to employees, private phone rooms, and a large cafeteria with employee break areas fill the 33,384 sf of new space. Notable design features include remarkable faux gold leaf wall coverings, a dimensional wood accent wall, a faux living column, and wood lattice dividing screens to create breakout areas.
By re-purposing existing hard walls, space planning around existing facilities, and re-lamping original warehouse lighting fixtures with those typical to residential design, budget constraints were easily met within the high-end design.
