redefining workplace
BNP Media
A family-run media enterprise, BNP Media dared to reimagine the traditional office with a bold “hub-and-home” concept, fusing functionality with family values. This new workspace isn’t just an office—it’s a reflection of their deep history, diverse product offerings, and unique company culture. The new workspace showcases the organization’s values while providing flexibility for team members to work in ways that suit their individual needs. It’s a place where both the company’s legacy and its commitment to a collaborative, adaptable work environment come together.
vision
The design vision for this media company is centered around the concept of “publication,” seamlessly weaving the essence of print and storytelling throughout the space. Unexpected touches, like a reception desk and light fixtures mimicking magazines on a shelf, bring the theme to life. Wall spaces transform into display “bookcases,” showcasing the company’s publications and awards. The finish palette balances residential warmth with commercial sophistication, featuring rich wood tones paired with sleek dark quartz countertops to create an inviting, relaxed atmosphere. A living room-inspired work café brings the comforting feel of home into the workplace, fostering both creativity and connection.
detail
This project transformed an existing 30,000 square-foot office into a 5,000 square-foot space, reimagining the workplace to place emphasis on using an “agile” working style that fosters collaboration, strengthens openness and transparency between fellow coworkers and incorporates biophilic principles. Access to views, natural light and integration of greenery were key drivers in the development of the design concept. By placing the private areas around the perimeter and employing sliding glass partitions, the center of the space is available for collaboration, (14) hoteling stations with sharable locker space and a work café, all within view of the outdoors.
secret
After the initial programming phase, Neumann/Smith successfully consolidated BNP Media’s existing footprint into 5,000 square feet, saving the company thousands of dollars in yearly rent and utility costs. This transformation not only streamlined operational expenses but also adapted the office to modern workstyles. By designing flexible, multi-purpose spaces that cater to both remote work and in-office collaboration, the new layout fosters efficient workflows without compromising on connection or creativity. Employees can seamlessly transition between focused tasks, team collaborations, and virtual meetings, optimizing both space and productivity in an increasingly agile, hybrid work environment
