reimagining a national landmark

BCBSM Cornice + Slate

Hannah-Neumann/Smith brought new life to the 1890s Cornice & Slate building, a National Register landmark since 1974. The pressed steel Neo-Italianate façade was preserved, while renovations on the second and third floors created space for 100 Blue Cross Blue Shield employees. Exposed brick, reinforced wood beams, and black-framed windows honor the building’s historic character.
